CanalWays and DVC Position Receive Support

In order to keep the same level of programming that we have been able to provide the last couple of years, we have been actively seeking new sources of support for our activities. We have been making every effort to make our programs "fundable" in the eyes of donors and granting agencies.

One of the things that we have done this year was to combine
our CanalWays Project Coordinator and our Docent Volunteer Coordinator (DVC) into one position. Both positions are extremely valuable to the organization and require paid staff. Three donors felt the programs were "fundable" and agreed to be sponsors. The Waterford Industrial Development Agency (IDA) gave us a grant of $2,500 toward the combined projects and Morgan Keegan & Company Inc. has donated $1,000 toward the projects. The
Waterford Teachers Association also showed their support by donating $200 toward the CanalWays program. With these funds we have been able to hire Aine Leader to return and serve in the role of CanalWays Project Coordinator and continue her work as the DVC. This will enable us to maintain our expanded hours on Saturdays and continue to run our successful CanalWays program among other things that Aine will be helping with.
