Fall Day Trip to Cooperstown, NY area

The Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center’s Fall Day Trip will be Wednesday, October 14, 2009 to Hyde Hall, National Historic Landmark and New York State Historic Site on Otsego Lake, NY and to the the historic Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard, Fly Creek, NY.  Buffet lunch at the Otesaga Hotel, Cooperstown, NY

Hyde Hall was designed by architect, Philip Hooker, in the neoclassical design, built by George Clark as a country villa in the early 19th century and is an on going restoration project.  George Clark became heir to his great grandfather's American properties.  The elder Clark was an Englishman and prominent figure in the Colonial government of NY.

After Lunch we will visit the historic, water-powered Fly Creek Mill which has been in operation for 150 years.  The Mill Store Marketplace offers many food products, many made at the Mill.  Tastings of apple salsa, apple wines, hard cider, sauces, preserves, cheeses and Mill-made fudge just to name a few.

Noon Meal:  will be in the main dining room of the Otesaga.  A hot and cold buffet will consist of hot entrees, salads, beverages and dessert.

Departure  8:15 a.m. from rear parking lot across from the Wesleyan Church, 75 Grace St., Northside, Waterford.  Approximate return time 5 p.m.

Cost:  $70.00 for current members and $75.00 for not-yet members.  Includes parking, motor coach transportation (Wade Tours), admission fees, guided tour and lunch.
