Button and Blake Fire Engine Comes Back to Waterford
The Museum is pleased to announce that it has purchased an 1857 Button and Blake hand-pumper fire engine from a private owner in Ohio.  This engine was built in Waterford by the Button and Blake Fire Engine Co.  The old pumper needs work and a new home, so the Museum is starting a fund raising campaign immediately.

The purchase was made possible by a generous donation from Mr. Thomas O’Connor Jr. CEO of Mohawk Fine Papers.  The donation has been made in memory of his late father, Mr. Thomas O’Connor Sr.

The “Converse” as it was originally named, is now in Waterford in temporary storage at Mohawk Fine Papers.  Financial assistance for the transportation was generously donated by Mr. Richard Powell, of the Erie Champlain Canal Boating Company.
